Nací en Gummersbach (Alemania), hijo de emigrantes españoles. Vine a España a los 5 años. Al pueblo de mis padres: Monforte de Lemos (Lugo). Aunque lleve  años alejado de Monforte, sigo considerándome de allí. Cuando dije que quería estudiar teleco, mi padre no se alegró demasiado. Él quería un médico en la familia y pensó que sería fácil convencerme. El pobre no sabía lo difícil que es convencer a un Aries. Bueno, de todas formas, hoy soy "doctor".

Ahora un poco más formal: Ingeniero de Telecomunicación (1993) y “Doctor Ingeniero” (1999), ambos títulos concedidos por la Universidad de Vigo. Profesor de la E.T.S.I.T. de Vigo desde 1995 (antes fui profesor en la Facultad de Informática de la Coruña). Actualmente, soy profesor titular. Durante mi carrera profesional ha realizado una estancia de investigación en el N.I.S.T (National Institute of Standards and Technology) en Maryland (USA), 1997. Como resultado de mi actividad investigadora he participado en siete proyectos de financiación pública (Universidad, Xunta, CEE) y en diecisiete accionesde transferencia de tecnología (contratos con empresas). Respecto a la temática de los proyectos realizados la mayoría se centran en el procesado de imagen (análisis de imagen y visión artificial), aunque que también existen proyectos relacionados con redes de datos y telefonía. He publicado 79 artículos, 3 libros docentes y he dirigido 124 Proyectos Fin de Carrera, 3 Trabajos Fin de Grado, 4 Trabajos Fin de Máster y una Tesis Doctoral.

I was born in Gummersbach (Germany), son of spanish inmigrants. I came to spain at 5 years old. I lived in my parents town: Monforte de Lemos (Lugo, Spain). Although I have lived far from Monforte for years, I am still an inhabitant of Monforte, into my soul. When I decided to study telecommunications, my father was not vey happy. He wanted a medicine doctor and he though it would be easy to convince me. Not so easy, I'm Aries. Nevertheless I'm a doctor today (Ph.D. just kidding).

More formally: I received the Communications Engineering degree in 1993 and the Ph.D. degree in 1999, both from University of Vigo. I'm a teacher at Vigo University from 1995 (before I taught at La Coruña University in Computer Science School). Nowadays, I'm a permanent staff professor at Vigo Telecommunications School. During my professional career, I have been at N.I.S.T (National Institute of Standards and Technology) in Maryland (USA), 1997. I have worked in 24 research projects (with public and private funding), most of them related with image analysis and computer vision. Other important projects were related with data and telephony networks. I have published 79 papers and 3 class books. I have directed 124 master theses in telecommunications, 3 bachelor projects, 4 master thesis in construction engineering and a Ph. D. Thesis.
